what is breathwork?
dropping in
I left my goddess of a therapist Christine Pappas this past Saturday with the reminder to “drop in” during the week. We talk a lot about the things I do to take care of myself but one of the harder ones is the journey of going inward. It’s a practice of mindfulness and allowing myself a sense of peace and calm that fills my entire body, including my mind. She told me that the gut has more dopamine receptors than your brain which makes sense that whatever you put into your body does affect your overall state. And allowing yourself even 30 seconds of silence to drop down and quiet yourself with a few deep, belly breathes that your overall being is impacted. You can practice this by walking down the street, in the bus in the morning commute, stopping in your day at your desk to simply drop into yourself, take some breathes and carry on. It’s a little energy boost you can get anytime. Try the 4-7-8 Breath Here
nightly meditations
Every evening I’ve been listening to Lalah Delia’s A Journey Home on Insight timer. I really love the guided piece of the meditation but the words she says are also powerful and peaceful at the same time. Your subconscious is always listening so even if you catch 5 mins (of the 20) before you slip off into sleep, your mind is still listening, absorbing the goodness and ritual you’re practicing.
